Happy Thanksgiving!
Anna is 7 1/2 months old now. At her last doctor’s appointment on October 14, she weighed in at 16 pounds, 4 ounces and was 26 inches long. She can get to a sitting position from her belly and is trying hard to pull herself up to a standing position. She isn’t crawling yet, but should be any day now – we’ve been saying that for the last 3 weeks. However, she does manage to get around the room.
Anna started daycare on November 18 and she is doing well there. She enjoys playing with the other babies and all the different toys. Her caregivers are always saying how happy she is. On Wednesday the local newspaper ran a story on the new daycare facility. Anna’s picture made it to the front page – “above the fold”! Click here for the story.
Wow…I guess I never posted this one as it was still sitting in my draft folder.
Ruth, Anna, and myself had a wonderful trip visiting family. We went to Missouri, where we finally got to meet all the new babies (Lizzie, Mason, John & Alix).
Ruth and Anna visited family and friends in Washington while I was in Arkansas with most of my brothers (cough, Russ, cough) on the annual AGFT.
Anna had a great time playing with her cousins, meeting her aunts & uncles, and getting spoiled by grandmas and grandpas.

I finally got around to getting the Florida pictures off my phone. The quality is not great but some of them turned out alright.
I just got back from an 8 day work trip on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. I was updating workstations as well as giving classes in Kenai, Homer, and Seward. Here are a few pictures from that trip. You may wonder why I have pictures of the church in Moose Pass. Ruth’s Grandpa started that church and I took a few pictures to pass on to the family.
Ruth and Anna are doing great. Anna is beginning to talk a lot. A few new pictures were added to her album. Anna will be 4 months tomorrow and she is keeping us busy.
I have added pictures to the Juneau 2009 and Anna’s 3rd and 4th month albums.
Wow how time flies…Anna is now a little over 3 months old and she is enjoying playing, sleeping, eating and of course dirtying diapers. She really wants attention and is all about playing and discovering new things.
Recently we had a visitor in our backyard. He was up in the tree for over an hour. No idea where mamma bear was but he sure was having a good snack consisting of tree branches. Ruth and Anna stayed inside while I got closer to get a picture or two.
Mom has been visiting for almost two weeks now and she is sure loving the time she is spending with Anna. They have been going for lots of walks together and of course lots of holding and reading books. Anna is having a blast with grandma!
Last weekend Anna went for her first boat ride and saw lots of whales.
Anna is growing up so fast. She is almost 12 weeks old now. At her two month checkup on June 15, she weighed 11 pounds 13 ounces and was 22 and 3/4 inches long. She is smiling all the time now, laughing out loud, holding onto toys put into her hands, and she has just started reaching for things on her own!
We have added some new pictures here.
The first meltdown went pretty good. I can not say it went off without a hitch but for the first event of this size in Juneau it went very well. No event stopping problems just a few things that will be changed/improved on for next time.
I have added photos of the event here. Most of these photos I have taken myself and are named dscf####, the others were taken by Mikko Wilson.
I can not believe it has been over a month since little Anna entered this world. She is just about six weeks old and my how she has changed. She is beginning to smile for us and she has learned how to grab her hat and daddy’s chest hair (ouch!). She seems to be doing something new every day.
Mom and Anna are doing great. We are all getting about 5 – 6 hours of sleep a night. It is amazing how fast one gets used to getting less sleep.
Anna does love her tummy time!
Just look at her smile!!
I have posted a bunch more pictures here.
A little over a week and Juneau’s largest gaming festival will begin(www.alaskameltdown.com). This festival will include games for all the new major platforms as well as vintage consoles (i.e. Atari). There will also be table top gaming (some from the local community have taken the initiative and are organizing this).
There has been a lot of work and planning put into this by a few of us here in Juneau. It is interesting to be part of this project even though my part, up to this point, has been small but is one of the major parts of the event. However, there is still a lot to do to finalize the tournaments and such.
Hopefully this event turns out to be a success and if so it will probably become an annual event.
What else can one say.
